My photographic activity is a continuation of life long artistic interests, which have included creating art in several forms and membership in a number of art organizations, notably the Copley Society. I have a strong interest in formal elements of composition, color and form. Subject matter of choice includes cityscapes and landscapes. The focus on cityscapes is due to a fascination with the man-made environment on the scale made possible by modern engineering and with the abstract quality that juxtaposed buildings and expansive cityscapes can sometimes acquire. In photography of the natural landscape I prefer scenes of the untended landscape, examples being fields and rivers along the Connecticut shore in different seasons and the local landscapes at Broadmoor and Elmbank. I consider photography as an attempt to transmit a personal response to selected subject matter by choice of perspective, composition and other formal elements emphasized in any final editing. My exhibition record includes three one-man shows:
1. New York Panoramas; Dorothy Young Art Center, Drew University, Sept-Oct 2009
2. Boston and Beyond; Wellesley Main Library, June 2011
3. Natick and Boston; Natick Morse Institute Library, April 2012
Also one of my photographs was selected for the highly competitive Off-the-Wall exhibit sponsored by the Danforth Museum, June-July 2012. My photographs are in a number of private collections, including one which is hung in the waiting room of the ArrhymiaCenter at Tufts Medical Center.
